CATOOSA, Okla. – More than 130 Native American artists will showcase their artwork from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 9 and 10 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

The fifth annual Cherokee Art Market will be held in the Sequoyah Grand Ballroom in the hotel and casino located at 777 West Cherokee St.

Admission will be $5 per person. Visitors will see citizens of different tribes displaying beadwork, pottery, paintings, basketry, sculptures and textiles. A purse of $75,000 will be awarded across 20 categories. In addition, guests can enjoy cultural performances and the Art Tour of Tulsa.

“The Cherokee Art Market has become a leader in Native American art shows by providing a venue for artists to showcase their talent and guests to purchase beautiful, authentic pieces,” said Molly Jarvis, vice president of Cultural and Public Relations at Cherokee Nation Entertainment. “The fact that the show continues to grow each year speaks volumes to the level of talent and interest in Native American art and film.”

In 2009, the Cherokee Art Market set a record for attendance with more than 4,000 guests and 225 entries from nearly 150 Native American artists.
