CHC to present ‘Cherokee Baskets – History Woven In Art’
BY STAFF REPORTS TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Cherokee Heritage Center will present “Cherokee Baskets – History Woven in Art” from May 28 to Aug. 19. The exhibition presents the history of Cherokee basket weaving and features numerous baskets, including one that survived the Trail of Tears, as well as baskets of contemporary design. The world’s tallest Cherokee basket, standing more than 8 feet tall and with a base of 45 inches, also will be on display during the exhibition. The CHC is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week from May 6 to Sept. 3. Admission to the exhibition is included with CHC admission, which is $8.50 per adult, 7.50 per senior (55 and older) and students with proper identification and $5 per child.
