CATOOSA, Okla. – Less than two months after Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa hosted its first World Series of Poker circuit event, the international tour has announced it will return to the casino on March 15-26. The Hard Rock event will be the 21st stop on the tour that begins in August at Harrah’s Casino in North Carolina. It is one of three to be held in Oklahoma. More details about the Hard Rock circuit event, including a full schedule, will be released at a later date. “We are thrilled to bring back the World Series of Poker to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa,” Martin Madewell, senior director of hospitality at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa, said. “This year’s event was our first time to host the event, and it was a tremendous success.” This year’s circuit winner was William Berry. The Norman resident won $180,806 in the main event that featured 574 entrants competing for $861,000. The top 63 competitors finished in the money. It marked the first time the casino had hosted the event. Every stop will offer a dozen official gold ring events starting at the $365 buy-in level and will include a $1,675 main event. The “12 Rings in 12 Days” remains, with most stops beginning on a Thursday and the four-day main event beginning on the second Friday, thereby encompassing a total of 12 official WSOP gold ring events over 12 days and offering players nonstop poker action at the regional level. Players can qualify for the 2017-18 Global Casino Championship several ways: (a) win a circuit main event at any domestic or international stop; (b) win a casino championship, which is defined as the player at each stop who accumulates the most points throughout the 12-event gold ring schedule at any domestic or international stop; or (c) be one of the top 50 cumulative point-earners over the entire season who hasn’t otherwise qualified (domestic tour only). WSOP Circuit Events are a series of poker tournaments hosted throughout the United States and throughout the world, beginning in early August each year and culminating the following summer, with a $1,000,000 Global Casino Championship where the victor earns a WSOP gold bracelet as well.
