TULSA – Cherokee Nation Assurance is partnering with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to assist in its mission to prevent illness, disability and death through disease control and immunizations.

The Cherokee Nation Businesses company will officially work with the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, Division of Viral Diseases, Viral Gastroenteritis Branch by conducting scientific research and providing administrative support to the agency’s Viral Gastroenteritis Branch.

“We are very proud of the work our team is doing with the CDC,” Steven Bilby, Cherokee Nation’s diversified businesses president, said. “This research has the potential to prevent illnesses and save lives, and we are honored to serve a role in making that possible through the advancement of scientific knowledge.”

Throughout the next year, CNA will conduct studies, perform viral gastroenteritis testing, assist in developing new vaccines and help further the scientific community’s understanding of the rotavirus and norovirus. The team will also present research and development data to CDC staff and participate in laboratory research, training and maintenance activities.

“As a member of the VGB team, CNA is honored to support the Center for Disease Control’s mission,” Richard Mylod, CAN operations general manager, said. “This partnership allows us to continue our pursuit to improve global health initiatives and grants our experts in viral disease research the opportunity to work side by side with CDC’s renowned specialists in other fields.”

The CDC is a component of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Headquartered in Atlanta, the CDC’s mission is to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. Whether diseases start at home or abroad, are chronic or acute, curable or preventable, human error or deliberate attack, the CDC fights disease and supports communities and citizens to do the same.

CNA officials said CNA delivers a broad spectrum of professional management consulting services to its defense, health, environmental and civilian agency clients. To assist clients in achieving their goals, CNA provides a tailored management approach for complex government programs and disciplines, including health information technology, research and science, program management, communications, correspondence and document management, governance and administrative support.
