CN to ‘Light up the Christmas Season’
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Tribal officials will welcome the holiday season on Dec. 1 with the annual “Light Up the Christmas Season” event.
The Christmas celebration is hosted at the Cherokee National Capitol Square and consists of a holiday open house at Cort Mall, performances by the Cherokee National Youth Choir and the lighting of the Cherokee National Capitol Square.
“We hope to have a festive crowd as we kickoff the holiday with the lighting of the historic Cherokee Capitol Square,” Deputy Chief S. Joe Crittenden said. “The Christmas season is defined by a spirit of togetherness, goodwill and unity and this annual celebration always creates many wonderful family memories.”
The event begins at 4 p.m. and features activities for children, including a Christmas Train, ornament making, a live nativity scene and an appearance from Santa Claus. CN first lady Sherry Baker will read Christmas stories and hot chocolate, cider and cookies will be served. Children will also receive a bag of old-fashion candy.
The event is open to the public and free to attend.
