The Nut House, a Claremore business that began more than 40 years ago selling native pecans, has grown to include various nuts, candies, snacks and Route 66 memorabilia.
“We pride ourselves on our selection, quality and excellent customer service,” the Nut House website at 66nuts.com states. “We enjoy people and want their experience with us to be fun.”
The Nut House operates out of a log cabin built from pecan wood, which was originally constructed to house a pecan-cracking operation. Fresh pecans remain a staple.
According to the business, “We pick from the best harvests each year, choosing only the tastiest varieties. Unlike grocery stores, you won’t find any pecans over a year old, and our pecans are kept frozen until time to ship. They never sit in warehouses in the summer heat. This guarantees you will have the only the freshest and best pecans to eat and use in your favorite recipes.”
The Nut House is located along Route 66 at 26677 S. Highway 66 in Claremore, five miles north of I-44. The vast array of products and gifts – from coffee, fudge, apparel, puzzles and seasonal merchandise – can also be ordered online. Fudge in assorted flavors is made fresh daily in the Nut House kitchen, and customers can try a sample pack or buy flavors by the pound.
Kim Whittiker-Gish, of Tulsa, called the Nut House a “great place, full of lots of all things tourists and locals would love.”
“The coffees are oh, so wonderful,” she wrote in a Facebook review. “I look forward to wandering around every time I visit.”
A reviewer on tripadvisor.com said she bought chocolate-covered pecans that were “amazing.”
“I have also taken my mother and sister to lunch before in their sandwich restaurant,” she added. “Any food here is a delight. The top-notch service is just a bonus. I cannot say enough great things about The Nut House.”
There is also a deli menu with items for local delivery or curbside pickup. Featured are specialty sandwiches, homemade soup, meats, cheeses, vegetables and “sweet treats.”
