OOLOGAH – Staff at the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch will host “Family Day at the Ranch” from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 19.
Through hands-on activities and demonstrations, visitors can get a glimpse of what life was like in the early days of the ranch during Rogers’s childhood in the late 1800s. Demonstrations and activities include butter churning, using a washboard and rope making. “Family Day at the Ranch” is free and open to the public, Donations are appreciated.
Rogers, considered “Oklahoma’s Favorite Son” by many people, was a stage and motion picture actor, vaudeville performer, American cowboy, humorist, newspaper columnist and social commentator from Oklahoma. As an entertainer and humorist, he traveled around the world three times, made 71 films (50 silent films and 21 “talkies”) and wrote more than 4,000 nationally syndicated newspaper columns. He was the leading political columnist of his time and was the highest paid Hollywood film star.
