TAHLEQUAH – A Nov. 6 memo from Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. and Deputy Chief Bryan Warner announced a deadline extension for the Cherokee Nation’s new program through the “Respond, Recover and Rebuild COVID-19 Plan” to assist CN citizens with disabilities.

The CN Disability Assistance Program will provide a $300 check for CN citizens in the reservation with disabilities, especially veterans with disabilities, to help them respond to COVID-19. The application and more information can be found on Cherokee.org under the green RRR Disability Assistance icon. Its deadline has been extended to 11:59 p.m. CST on Nov. 13.

“We have also expanded that program to Cherokee Nation disabled veterans who receive VA benefits, living both in and outside the reservation,” the memo states.

The online application is available under the green Respond, Recover and Rebuild Disability Assistance Program tab at cherokee.org.

Applicants can email disabilityservices@cherokee.org or call 918-453-5555 for information.
