TAHLEQUAH – According to an all-employee email, the W.W. Keeler Tribal Complex and Sequoyah Schools were locked down at approximately 11 a.m. today and remains so.

As of 12:10 p.m., according to a CN Communications email, the complex and Sequoyah campus were secure but still under a lockdown.

According to the email, an individual who may have been en route to the complex had made a threat and CN officials were asking employees to “remain in their departments with doors locked, until the lockdown is lifted.”

The email stated that Cherokee Nation marshals and security were on site and working with other law enforcement.

“Employee safety is always our first concern. Communications will keep everyone updated as soon as we can,” the email states. “Water will be brought in and security will be checking on departments if employees need restroom breaks or have other needs.”
