Cherokee Casino Tahlequah to host Bassmaster Elite Series

TAHLEQUAH – B.A.S.S., the world’s largest fishing organization, will host the Cherokee Casino Tahlequah Bassmaster Elite at Fort Gibson Lake on May 16-19.

The event is the fifth of nine regular-season Elite Series bass tournaments. The Elite Series visited Fort Gibson Lake for the first time in 2010, where current Elite Series pros Matt Herren and Rick Morris rounded out the top five.

The tournament pits 75 of the top bass anglers in the world against one another as they compete for the $100,000 first-place prize and valuable performance points toward qualifying for the 2020 Bassmaster Classic.

From watching the anglers’ boats take off from Taylor Ferry North Recreation Area at 6 a.m. each day of competition, through the family-friendly Bassmaster Outdoors Expo, Saturday and Sunday at Cherokee Casino Tahlequah, all activities are free and open to the public. Weigh-ins Days 1 and 2 will be at Taylor Ferry North Recreation Area at 3 p.m., with Days 3 and 4 taking place at Cherokee Casino Tahlequah at 3:45 p.m.

May 16 (All times Central Standard)

6 a.m.: The full field of 75 anglers launch on Fort Gibson Lake from Taylor Ferry North Recreation Area (Wagoner.)

1 p.m.: Cherokee Casino Tahlequah will celebrate the opening of the new entertainment destination with a ribbon cutting ceremony

3 p.m.: Official weigh-in takes place at Taylor Ferry North Recreation Area

May 17

6 a.m.: The full field of 75 anglers launch from Taylor Ferry North Recreation Area

3 p.m.: Official weigh-in takes place at Taylor Ferry North Recreation Area

May 18

6 a.m.: The top 35 anglers launch from Taylor Ferry North Recreation Area

Noon: Bassmaster Elite Series Outdoors Expo opens at Cherokee Casino Tahlequah

1 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Elite angler bass fishing clinics, Cherokee Casino Tahlequah

1 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Angler Alley at Cherokee Casino Tahlequah. Fans can meet the Elite anglers
3:45 p.m.: Official weigh-in takes place at Cherokee Casino Tahlequah

Saturday is Military and First Responder Appreciation Day, offering free B.A.S.S. merchandise to fans with a military ID.

May 19
