TAHLEQUAH – The Cherokee Phoenix on Monday will launch its redesigned website to be more user friendly and interactive with its audience via polls, reader comments and enhanced multimedia offerings.

“We, at the Cherokee Phoenix, are so excited to announce the launch of our newly redesigned website,” Executive Editor Tyler Thomas said. “We believe our new site will be more user-friendly, allowing us to deliver our news to the Cherokee people more efficiently.”

The Cherokee Nation’s independent news organization partnered with TownNews, a digital media and online publishing company in Illinois, for the redesign to be more visually appealing compared to the current site. The new website will also allow for enlarged photos and a better search function.

In 2007, the Cherokee Phoenix introduced its initial website before redesigning in 2011 and again in 2017 to its current format. The news organization also utilizes social media, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and sends out an email newsletter three days a week.

The Cherokee Phoenix reports on the Cherokee government, current events and Cherokee culture, people and history.
